Protect Your Retirement: Vote Yes for Fair Tax
The millionaire clubs & political interest groups are spending tens-of-millions of dollars to target retirees with scare tactics & misinformation. That’s because when the Fair Tax passes everyone earning $250,000 or less will will receive a tax cut while only those earning more will be required to pay any more. Further, the $3 billion in additional revenue that Fair Tax will generate annually would provide long-term protection of the tax exempt status of retirement income and help sustain the senior services that these same big money interest groups are seeking dismantle.
It’s up to us to fight back against rumors & misinformation. Make sure retirees know the truth!
THE FAIR TAX PROTECTS RETIREMENT INCOME
The Fair Tax maintains tax exempt status for all retirement earnings: Social Security, pensions, IRAs, et all.
The Fair Tax does nothing to impact or make it any easier to change that tax exempt status.
THE FAIR TAX WILL SUPPORT IMPORTANT SENIOR SERVICES
The Fair Tax will raise additional revenue to help fund important services (Medicaid, home care, aging services, etc.)
The Fair Tax will help stabilize the state fiscal future, allowing it to fund health benefits, pension obligations, and improve its bond rating.
The Fair Tax will reduce pressure on schools and local governments to raise property taxes.
OPPONENTS OF FAIR TAX THREATEN RETIREMENT SECURITY
The Fair Tax opponents like the Illinois Policy Institute want to eliminate both Social Security and defined-benefit pensions for retirees.
Other opponents in the business community have argued for defeating the Fair Tax, which will then force the state to tax retirement earnings & other regressive measures.
ILLINOIS SENIORS SUPPORT FAIR TAX
Fair Tax is supported by the retiree leaders of the Illinois Alliance for Retired Americans, AARP, as well as hundreds of faith groups, labor unions, community organizations, and service providers.
Thousands of grassroots leaders, many of whom are seniors, all across Illinois have signed on to endorse the Vote “Yes” for Fair Tax campaign.
