Drunita Steward – Chicago Teachers Union
Drunita Steward taught secondary mathematics for over 35 years and has served as a Chicago Teachers Union delegate for over 45 years both as an Active Teacher and a Retired Teacher. Her roles at CTU include District Supervisor and organizer for retired delegates. She is also an active member of the Chicago Metro Retirees chapter of the IARA, the American Federation of Teachers Black caucus of Chicago, Coalition of Labor Union Women of Chicago, Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, Women’s Legislative Leadership Project, and she serves at Holiness Is The Way Church and Holiness Homes of Visions
Drunita received a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University, two master’s degrees, one from National Louis University, and another from Illinois Institution of Technology, both in mathematics and education. Her honors include receiving the Living the Legacy Award from the American Federation of Teachers Women’s Rights Committee for her over 40 years of service.
