226,000 signatures delivered!

What a response! The Alliance just delivered more than 226,000 signatures to Nora Super, the Executive Director of the White House Conference on Aging, urging the White House to include Social Security expansion in next week’s conference.

Momentum is on our side. Right now, 79% of likely voters – Democrats, Republicans and Independents – support expanding Social Security benefits and paying for it by asking the wealthy to pay their fair share. And, in 2015 over 90% of the Senate Democratic caucus has endorsed expansion.

But we still have a long way to go in our fight for a secure retirement future for all Americans. That’s why we’re educating policymakers in Washington and across the country about the need to protect and expand Americans’ earned benefits. At a time when two-thirds of retirees depend on Social Security for the majority of their income, we need lawmakers to understand that opposing cuts and privatization are only part of the solution.
