RAISE Your Voice For Social Security
Yesterday, Senators Mark Begich (D-AK) and Patty Murray (D-WA) announced exciting new legislation to expand Social Security. The Retirement and Income Security Enhancement Act of 2014 (or RAISE Act) would increase benefits for many widows, widowers and divorced spouses; and extend benefits to children of retired, deceased and disabled workers.
Tell Congress to RAISE Social Security!
Why do I say exciting? Because, finally, we are no longer spending every minute fighting continued efforts to cut Social Security benefits, but instead working to expand them. This effort follows the Strengthening Social Security Act of 2013, which also aims to expand Social Security benefits.
And, because this legislation is co-sponsored by a member of Democratic leadership, Senator Murray, it signals a significant change: no longer can Republicans and their Wall Street cronies claim that Social Security expansion is a fringe issue. With Democratic leadership behind this bill, it is clear that YOU are making YOUR VOICE heard in Washington!
Join the Alliance for Retired Americans – along with our friends at Social Security Works – in calling on your U.S. Senators to co-sponsor the RAISE Act today!
Your elected officials in Washington are starting to hear you, but WE CANNOT LET UP NOW, we need to continue to make clear: Strengthen and Expand Social Security!
