Just yesterday, Senate leadership announced a budget resolution that would significantly advance access to healthcare for older adults.

The resolution would expand Medicare to cover dental, vision, and hearing benefits, providing a big help to seniors who currently pay out of pocket. The budget resolution would also allow for lowering the eligibility age for Medicare!

The proposed plan would also empower Medicare to negotiate with the federal government on prescription drug costs, driving down prices for seniors and all Americans, and help pay for the proposed expansion of coverage and other provisions.

“Americans pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. It is time for action. Older Americans bear the brunt of these outrageous prices, with a quarter reporting not taking a prescription their doctor prescribed due to cost. Drug corporations have used their power to increase prices and pad their bottom line at the expense of consumers and the government…Likewise, adding dental, vision and hearing benefits for all Medicare beneficiaries will keep seniors healthier and help families make ends meet.
